Hot, hot, hot! Since July started it’s been around 35 deg C (95 deg F) in this corner of the globe. The heat is suffocating especially during noon, but this morning in the news it was mentioned that Dubai has reached 50 deg C (122 deg F). So it’s actually relatively cool where I live! How’s it going in your corner of the earth?

We need all the “cool” we can get, so today I rounded up some gorgeous interiors and fun accessories that exude cool and calm and class. Of course, they all make the most of the best color in the world (especially during summer): blue.

Beautiful, Beautiful Blue

First we have a dazzling view of the Ristorante Il Riccio in Capri, an island in Italy.

The waterfront restaurant was designed by Marco De Luca (Note: I’m unable to find his official site to link to. If you know his URL please let me know in the comments section). The place was given a Michelin star for its authentic Mediterranean cuisine, but I give it three stars for interior design! The white linen and billowing curtains on this light and airy space is simply perfect on a clear summer day.

I adore the blue color palette, so stylishly Mediterranean in feel, with the wooden furnishings and mosaic tiles.

For blue residential interiors I turned to the late, great Alberto Pinto.

His interior design of a villa in Mykonos, Greece, exudes both artistic exuberance and cool relaxation. I love the stucco-like texture of the walls, hand-painted wall art, and distressed, decorative ceiling beams.

In Athens, John Stefanidis renovated this guest room with many shades of blue.

The rich hue is so calming while the patterned upholstery and striped rug add visual interest.

Blue Accessories

In June I stored the last of my spring wardrobe and made sure to bring out all the summer outfits. For the home and self, I’m crushing on these two items:

I like how Lenox’s Darius series, designed by Brian Gluckstein, adds a twist to the Greek-key motif by giving it a 3D-like effect. The rich indigo and gold trim is a classic color combination, and we can see why in this beautiful set. Not just for summer, this design is timeless.

Glass jewelry might be heavy but I think it’s worth it, especially for gorgeous ocean blue tones.

All Revved Up for Summer

A friend’s young son’s birthday is smack in the middle of summer. They are planning a seaside party for him so I designed this blue and red, boat-themed gift set.
