Art Deco Round Pedestal Table with Rotating Top
Product Information
The geometric pieces of wood lined up in decreasing size on the pedestal have gold trim on the sides and a subtle curve on top, adding an interesting touch to this comely piece of Ruhlmann furniture.
I modeled it based on a picture in the book Furniture: World Styles from Classical to Contemporary by Judith Miller.
“This elegant circular table, signed by Ruhlmann, is made from amboyna and ivory. Its rotating circular top rests on a central support decorated with stepped geometric panels and an arching base. Like many of Ruhlmann’s pieces, the exotic wood veneer is the main form of decoration. c.1929. W:74.5cm” (Excerpt from p. 393 of Furniture: World Styles from Classical to Contemporary by Judith Miller.)
With a diameter of 74.5cm (29 1/4″) it makes for a good cafe table or breakfast table for two.

The Ruhlmann table above is not widely available. It’s hard to find a similar match. Here are some looks that remind me of this table’s design elements.
The glamorous AICO Hollywood Swank Round Dining Table from Carolina Rustica is designed to fit into a smaller room setting while still seating six comfortably.
You can choose between two finishes for the top as well as the base. Check out the details of this table:
Beautiful! It’s perfect for that Hollywood Regency look.
The Johnston Casuals Francesca Round Dining Table Base (table base only) has beautiful scroll legs and a wide selection of finish options.
I love the chrome look for this base. I’d like to pair it with a round lacquered black top for that sleek Art Deco look.
For a uniquely Deco touch, the Stanley Avalon Heights Chelsea Neo Deco Pedestal Table is the perfect choice.
Interlocking metal ovals create a transfixing base for the Neo Deco Pedestal Table. Reflecting the love of symmetry celebrated in Art Deco works, the ringed design looks exquisite from any angle. Available from Carolina Rustica
The Bedford End Table in Antique Brass has an octagonal base and round top, in a cherry veneer.
Metal nail heads embellish the double steps at the bottom of the base and all around the table top, and reminds me of the ivory inlay in Ruhlmann’s table. This accent table is 22.5″ in diameter. Sold by and ships from StudioLX.
Isn’t the Elizabeth Natural Mosaic Stone Table Top 24″ Round beautiful?
This table top is made of natural stone, built using unique pieces of hand cut stone chips. The white stone pattern near the edge of the table reminds me of the ivory inlay in Ruhlmann’s table. The manufacturer and seller, PebbleArt, says that “[a]ll tables are crafted with a nearly indestructible light weight core, and can be combined with any standard table or table base to create a unique expression in both indoor and outdoor environments”. Sizes range from 24″ to 60″, and comes in several shapes.
