Colorful, Geometric, Abstract Designs

Product Information

As a young student I struggled with Math. I did poorly and came to loathe algebra, calculus and trigonometry. Funnily, however, I didn’t hate geometry. I didn’t love it, but it was the least depressing of the Math subjects we had in high school.

I don’t know if it was the subject itself, or the teacher, but I remember leafing through the geometry textbook, viewing the shapes and patterns the figures made and liking the way they looked. Yeah, I’m visual that way 🙂

Today’s post is on abstract, geometric designs. Basic shapes like squares and triangles, when arranged in certain ways, make things around us look so much more interesting.

Patterns Patterns Everywhere

Here are some fantastic, modernist interiors with lots of geometric patterns and bright hues. I may have the mathematical ability of a fruit bowl, but I do have a big appreciation for well-placed geometric designs.

Blocks of vivid colors provide this coffeehouse with all the colors and patterns it needs. It looks like such a bright, fun place!

I love the combination of curves and rectangles in this NYC restaurant. The soft glow of the indirect lighting coming from the hidden, stepped ceiling lights complement the vibrant, geometric backsplash.

Finally, this glass pavilion in Fishers Island, New York has a museum gallery feel. The abstract, geometric art is all that’s needed to create an interesting space but does not distract from the beautiful outdoors. I love how the super white walls and even the round skylight enhance the museum atmosphere and make both the art and sea views stand out.

Beautiful Rainbow Jewelry

I found these little sparkling ones, their multi-hued beauty demanding that I share them on my website 🙂

Which one’s your favorite? 😉 Colorful, geometric accessories are so fun: I could imagine each one of these going with a multitude of outfits.

Customizable Geometric Personal Effects

I made some designs with geometric patterns and bright hues. Click on each image to see more details. Enjoy all colors of the rainbow with these fun designs. Customize with your name and initial.

The first one has a colorful square pattern on a curving plane. This one’s actually the best-selling design in my Very Merry Monograms shop.

There are so many gloomy events in all corners of the earth I think everyone needs a dose of bright orange cheer.

I made a green version for those who prefer cooler tones.

Next are some pretty tiles with subtle texture and gradations, in shades of blue, violet and teal.

The tiles look great on a frosted coffee mug!

And finally, here’s my personal favorite: a monogrammed, colorful, abstract, opaque stained glass (or stone tiles, depending on the person!) design.

Brighten up your mood with this funky, vivid pattern forming an abstract flower.

Customize with your initial. These make the perfect gift for the friend or family member who enjoys modern, cool and colorful designs.

Love everything you featured. I really like colorful stuff I guess.

Wonder why I always get “ERROR: Unreadable CAPTCHA token file”

Thanks! I guess we got our love for colorful stuff from Ma 🙂

Sorry about that annoying error message. Hmm, the most common cause seems to be plugin conflict. However, I tried commenting here (Mac) using Firefox and Safari and it works fine; can’t duplicate the problem. I’ll try on IE in Windows and see what happens. Will let you know.

Love the brilliant tones! I’d say mosaic tiles more than stained glass for the violet flower design. Yah, it’s my fave too but the orange one looks so cheerful so i really like it as well 🙂

Thank you, Han, glad you like the flower tiles. I wasn’t really into saturated orange or purple when I was younger but it seems the older I get the more I like them 🙂
