Art Deco Orb Table Lamp

Product Information

I found these lamps while searching for Art Deco-style lighting fixtures:

Beautiful Art Deco table lamps.

3D Visualization

I’ve always wanted to model a lighting fixture with a large white orb. I quickly fell in love with the one with the zigzag-like base: I love the clean and simple design! It’s very Streamlined Art Deco. Unfortunately, I can’t trace who the designer was.

Here’s my rendered model:

The model in the foreground is lit, with a polished chrome base. The one in the background is unlit, with a brushed silver base. I made the base a bit wider than in the photo.

Here the lamps sit on the nightstands of an Art Deco bed I had modeled previously.

I chose the chrome-plated version to complement the chrome trimmings on the bed. The rich red color and vivid patterns of the wood are enhanced by the simple beauty of the lamps.

Get the Look

I selected three lamps with a French Art Deco feel. It makes me happy how something quite useful (providing ambient light) could also be very sculptural and beautiful 🙂

Goddess of the Stars Art Deco Illuminated Sculpture

The Goddess of the Stars Art Deco Illuminated Sculpture is hand-painted to replicate museum-quality bronze. It is cast in quality designer resin. I love her Flapper Era dress! This lamp is sold by and ships from Design Toscano.

Sphere Of Destiny Art Deco Lamp Sculpture

Perfect for a boudoir, the Sphere Of Destiny Art Deco Lamp Sculpture has a duo-tone metallic finish sprinkled with tiny faux jewels and golden vines. The beauties hold aloft a frosted, swirled glass globe. Cast in quality designer resin atop a faux ebony base. Sold by The Digital Angel.

The Desiree Art Deco Lighted Sculpture

Finally, here is a lovely ivory and gold sculptural lamp. The Desiree Art Deco Lighted Sculpture is cast in designer resin and finished with hand-applied faux ivory and gold leaf. The sculpture stands on a faux ebony base. Sold by and ships from Design Toscano.

Neat! I hope you’ll model one of the Lady Lamps one day. 😉

These orbs remind of palantir in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings epic. LOL

    • Hi! Thanks for dropping by. Palantir, hahaha! Yes, now that you mentioned it they do look similar.

Did you know, last weekend I watched the LOTR movie series (the first installment, extended edition) again on DVD. Since “The Hobbit” will be shown this year I thought I might do some uh, review. 🙂

Do you remember that I read The Hobbit when I was in my early teens (book borrowed from you, of course)? Sad to say, I don’t remember any of the details… Gollum did make quite an impression, though. I found him scary then.

The models look amazingly real except for the orbs which aren’t perfectly circular.

    • Thank you! That’s quite observant of you. You’re absolutely right, the orbs do have an unwanted sharpness to them. I should have chosen a higher number of polygons when subdividing the object.
